Fourth of July Fabulous: On a Budget!

Fourth of July is this Friday and I'm sure you're already starting to brainstorm plans for the holiday. It's such a big summer celebration - what with all of the barbecue cookouts, fireworks, and family reunions. It just is a celebration of all that screams America. Yet despite your many years enjoying the traditions, you might not know these few interesting historical facts about the holiday:

1. It is the anniversary of three presidents' deaths (Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and James Monroe)

2. It didn't become a national holiday until 1870 (Congress waited that long, but celebrations were held around the country starting in 1777)

3. John Adams was against the date of celebrations (Instead he wanted it to be July 2nd when the Continental Congress first voted to approve the Declaration of Independence)

4. The story that King George III called Independence Day "nothing of importance" is a lie (He never even kept a journal!)

I know that every year I'm always thinking about a true Americana themed outfit to wear to friends' holiday bashes. It can sometimes become quite expensive - what with Forever 21 making a killing off of American Flag printed shirts and shorts. Therefore, I wanted to find a cost effective outfit that you could wear but still look cute! So try out the below. It centers around an oversized gaudy American Flag button-down that you could find at any Goodwill or even in your dad's closet. Just keep it unbuttoned and wear it as a kind of statement piece with a plain white t-shirt and your staple black skirt. I love adding in the camel colored details. It really elevates it to a more fashion forward look!

4th of July Fantastic

I hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday!
