Weekend Round-Up

This weekend has been phenomenal. If this is a good indicator of how 25 is going to be, I'm ecstatic! Yep, on Friday I turned 25, which fees incredibly weird. I am now officially in my mid-twenties, closer to 30 than 20. Yikes! Honestly, I feel like I should only be 20 right now, but apparently that is not the case. But as I said, this weekend was fantastic and there's no better way to celebrate that milestone than with wonderful friends and my awesome fiancé.

Friday at school was an experience. I wore a "It's My Birthday!" button I had made for the kids and all of my students got really excited that it was my birthday that day. Fourth hour sang to me and a girl in my seventh hour made me the best birthday card. Working with high schoolers is just an incredibly rewarding experience. They have so much love to give! After school, I went to Louie's Wine Dive in Waldo with a group of close friends for dinner, wine, and music. As I was sitting there sipping on some cabernet sauvignon I noted just how lucky I am to have such beautiful friends to share my life with. They truly are the best gift.

Saturday, Mikael and I went to J.Crew Factory at the Legends Outlets for some post-birthday shopping and later caught a bit of the Wichita State basketball game on TV. After a late-afternoon filled with antique store perusing, we headed over to B.B.'s Lawnside BBQ in KCMO. That was an amazing experience! Their atmosphere is so intimate and casual with the live blues band and family style seating. Also, the burnt ends were just so tender and delicious - definitely the best I've ever had! It's now a new favorite spot of mine!

My new statement necklace I picked up at J.Crew Factory

Sporting my new necklace and Heart KC shirt from Mikael at B.B.'s!

Today, in the beautiful weather, Mikael and I went to Port Fonda with our dear friends Sam and Keith then later walked around Loose Park in the brilliant sunshine. It's been such a treat to spend a wonderful weekend with this gorgeous weather and the wonderful people in my life!
