Color of the Year: Emerald

Emerald: "the most abundant hue in nature– the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum. Since antiquity, this luminous, magnificent hue has been the color of beauty and new life in many cultures and religions. It’s also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity– no other color conveys regeneration more than green." (Leatrice Eisemann, Pantone Executive Director)

This rich, multi-tonal hue was chosen as the Color of the Year for 2013. Every year Pantone hosts meetings with color standards groups from several countries to decide for the year's choice color. Over the years, their selection has had significant impact upon the fashion community as stores and designers fight to incorporate the color into their lines. Emerald is a perfect choice for 2013 as it confirms the fashion world's love of bright hues and bold statement jewelry. It is a beautiful, eye-catching color that  is a mix of dark green and a rich aqua. It brings some earthiness to the beloved mint green from last year and pairs beautifully with any skin tone. It is great for elegant clutches, sleek maxi skirts, sequined tops or dresses, and in your everyday accessories! It also is perfect for men's sweaters, ties, bow ties, and pocket squares! Keep an eye out for this color when shopping over the next few months.
