Every now and then I find myself yearning for an adventure. Some new place to travel to, new sights to see, with unexpected people and unpredictable events. I was reminded of this when researching for this week's post and re-reading about Amelia Earhart's epic journey. On January 11, 1935 Ms. Earhart flew from Honolulu, HI to Oakland, CA becoming the first person in history to fly solo across the Pacific Ocean. She flew through fine weather in her faithful airplane lovingly nicknamed "Old Bessie." Her fortitude and adventurism awed Western reporters as stories of her journey filled the newspapers. She truly was and is an inspiration for young women everywhere looking to make their mark on this world.
While not all of us can go on these crazy adventures every day, it's good to remind yourself that life itself is an adventure and we must live and enjoy it fully. I try to apply this to my fashion philosophy. In my below outfit I paired together a safari/military jacket, leather leggings, multiple sheer tanks, a leather studded skinny belt, and leopard print shoes. These items to me embolden my fashion sense as the pieces could easily be toned down by themselves with a frilly dress, but when paired together become a new look entirely, one of adventure. This outfit is perfect for date nights or days out shopping with friends. With longer sheer tanks you could even wear it to work! The advantages of this outfit are endless. The black leggings act as shapewear to create a lean long line. The leopard print shoes draw your eye downward, further enhancing the vertical line. The belt nips at the smallest part of the waist to bring curves to the outfit, while the military-esque jacket adds structure to the flowy top. Overall, the pieces together create a unique, exciting outfit that is flattering for many body types!
