Spring Fashion 2013: Keep, Remove, Find

It's now nearing the end of January and the fashion trends for 2013 are emerging. I've created for you, dear reader, an easy to understand guide for what items to keep, remove from your closet, and find.

This year bright colors are still trending. So keep your bright pants, color-block pieces, sequined items, and leopard print. Bring out your floral prints and crop tops for warmer days. Ankle boots and chambray are still big, so keep those in your closet!

Spring Fashion 2013: Keep

J.Crew keyhole dress, $120 / J.Crew long sleeve shirt / Forever New , $26 / Long pleated skirt / Tommy Hilfiger , $135 / Sequin handbag / River Island leopard print handbag

The new year has brought back the tailored look, so remove the oversized 80's sweaters, peasant dresses, and paper bag trouser shorts from your closet. Feathers and lace have been replaced by leather for a tougher look this year. I'd still keep around your lace shirts, but skirts and shorts are easy ones to stow away. Also, you are in luck. Ultra-thin stilettos are not in style this year so your poor feet can take a break!
Spring Fashion 2013: Remove

Mango navy dress, $40 / Long sweater / Christopher Kane , $800 / Cotton shorts, $41 / Philipp Plein glitter heels / Mini handbag, $16

This year you want to find graphic sweaters, anything polka dot, graphic black and white pieces, and cut-out detailing. I love those details on dresses. If you are uncomfortable with that look, try out the sheer panelling, which is just as nice. Pumps are on trend this year (hallelujah!) so find a pair of those comfortable high heels! Leather pieces are popular, so try a jacket or skirt to add some kick to an outfit.

Spring Fashion 2013: Find

Miso chiffon dress, $32 / Banjo & Matilda cashmere sweater, $210 / Acne suede jacket / Paul by Paul Smith cropped jeans, $205 / Sam Edelman nude heels / Topshop envelope clutch
