It's finally here! That beloved Sunday in February where the Motion Picture Association honors the best movies of the year and us fashion-lovers flock to our TVs to watch the elegant parade of designs just like it's our own Super Bowl. As I watched the celebrities walk down the red carpet to attend the Oscars I saw many dresses that I loved as well as some that I was not so wild about. Tonight, I wanted to share with you my favorites of the major trends topping the designs on the red carpet at the Oscars Awards Ceremony tonight!
White and nude dresses were dominating the red carpet tonight. These designs contrasted so well with the other gowns. I particularly loved Jennifer Lopez's Elie Saab ballgown - it was flattering, sparkling, and completely eye-catching!
Another major trend taking over the Oscars was the mixing of navy and black. Sometimes people shy from these two hues, afraid that they are a fashion faux pas. Yet, these young stars clearly show just how wrong that belief is! Navy and black translate into elegance and fashion-forward chic-ness, translating perfectly for these formal events!
Finally, beyond these two major trends, gown designers this year focused of showing a narrow shot of skin increasing the dresses' sex appeal. From chest cut outs to dramatic slits revealing a length of long leg, these designs make major statements while revealing fairly little. I particularly loved Emma Stone's Elie Saab yellow hued gown. It was bold, classy, and youthful with its conservative neckline and shimmering fabric.
I hope you have a great week! I will catch you in a few days!
I loved the navy suits. And JLo was one of my favorites for sure. Along with Lupita, Emma Stone, and Cate Blanchett. XO - Alexandra
