Wedding Attire: Summer 2014

If you're like me, summer weekends (especially in June) are often spent celebrating the marriage ceremony of dear friends and family.  For instance, the next three weekends are dedicated to attending different weddings. While weddings are fun and beautiful, but as a guest sometimes the prospect of deciding what to wear becomes stressful. There's always friends or family in attendance that you want to impress or that ex that you want to look good for. Plus the attire requirements can become a bit confusing. What or what can you not wear? How does evening differentiate between afternoon? Etc.

To help you through this fashion dilemma, I have created a new summer go-to guide for your wedding attire as a guest! Let's start with a few simple rules:

Never wear white, unless it has a print or is more cream-colored. If you do, you could end up upstaging the bride, which is tacky.

Never wear jeans. Nope, not even appropriate for your cousin Bill's country wedding. Just stop.

Never wear risque or sexy clothing. Keep that for your date nights or outings with your girls.

Avoid wearing black for an afternoon wedding.

Avoid wearing too "fashion-forward" of outfits. Weddings are not the time to show off that new trendsetting skirt you bought.

Do keep it classy. Err more towards the simple than overdone - this applies to both makeup/hair and clothing.

Do dress more formally when in doubt.

Do pay attention to any guidelines outlined by the couple.

For more guidance, I have created three outfit profiles to help in case you are just stuck!
