Inspired by ASOS: Embellished Dress DIY

A few weeks ago, I was perusing my favorite fashion blogs and ran across the most beautiful dress. It was perfect - a perfect peach/nude with bright flowers adorning it in a free flowing garland pattern. I immediately clicked on the link, feeling the rising desire to purchase such a beauty, but then my heart fell once I saw the price. At over $200, I just simply couldn't afford spending that kind of money on a dress with a teacher's budget. Yet the dress seemed simple enough in construction and I knew that I could easily DIY this!

So after looking at the Forever21 website, I found the perfect nude dress to replicate the style. Unfortunately, I just assumed that my local store would have the style and, of course, they didn't. So I went with plan B and found a chiffon dress in the right color. I then went to Jo-Ann Fabric Store and grabbed tulle in a variety of bright colors, silver beads, and light pink thread. Once home, I set out the dress and began cutting up the tulle into strips, which I then formed into flowers. I added the silver beads when I sewed the flowers to the dress.

In the end, my DIY embellished dress cost me less than $35 and only several hours of sewing!

I'm incredibly proud of how it turned out and loved wearing it out to dinner on our trip to Chicago!
