My focus with my classroom has been to make it feel home-y. Since St. Teresa's Academy is an all-girls school, I have been able to feel less self-conscious of bringing my girly creativity to the decor. So I've brought in my chevron lamps, homemade bookshelf, and antique table to reflect my personal style. I've also spruced up the old bulletin boards with fun graphic print fabric I picked up from the fabric store. It's a great pattern with black and white stripes and shiny gold metallic dots scattered throughout - it feels very Kate Spade. I also found some large poster prints of famous historic paintings and photos in a storage area in the school, so I commandeered those for additional wall art. I am also going to add a few inspirational quotes I've written in calligraphy on cardstock. Overall, I'm making the classroom a comfortable, yet stylish space that reflects my personality, but also allows students to share themselves within it.
I've also been working on an exciting fashion project that I can't wait to share with you! I've been sewing, cutting, and designing up a storm and hopefully it should be ready to debut this next week on our trip to Chicago!
I was able to take a break this week to get together with some old girlfriends from college and celebrate a friend's upcoming wedding! We went out to TomFooleries on the Plaza and enjoyed Boulevard's new Ginger-Lemon Radler. Below is my outfit from the outing, combining my Heart KC shirt with J.Crew's neon floral skirt. It was a fun mix, yet still reflected my more grown up style. I also made sure I followed my simple rules of wearing a graphic shirt by knotting it and adding a statement necklace (see all the rules here). I hope you have a great week and I can't wait to share our visit to Chicago this week! Make sure you check out my pictures on Instagram by following historyandhighheels!
That's so sweet! I'm sure your students love and appreciate this! I like the minty green table!
