Fall Whites

If you had a mom like mine, whites were removed from your closet after Labor Day because of some silly rule put in place during the early 20th century. Historians speculate that it may have come about as a symbolic contrast to the drab city life that often dictated dull gray uniforms. Others attribute it to the practicality of white to be worn in the summer as it helped keep one cool. No matter these explanations, this outdated rule does not need to influence your outfit choices now. As stated by Charlie Schieps, author of American Fashion, in a Time Magazine article, "I'm sure the Queen of England at Christmastime puts on white ermine once in a while. So if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for everybody else, right? You don't have to be a fascist about it." (Read further here.)

As hot as colored jeans are right now, don't be afraid not to wear your white jeans this fall (this also applies to white skirts and dresses). I know that sometimes this clothing item can be intimidating, but just pair it with one of the below and keep a Tide-to-Go stick handy and you'll be all set.
