Bossy Girls & Dressing Like You Mean It

To me, your twenties are a time to find your own way. It's an entire decade where you are living on your own, are away from your parents, are discovering your true passions in life (career and otherwise), and taking time to find your own voice in this crazy world. Your twenties are a fun period to take the time to get to know yourself, explore the world, discover ultimate goals, and come into your own. I've found that so far, the past three years have been a blast and a newfound confidence has seeped in as I've unearthed my own voice. As part of this, a new style of dressing has formed - one that focuses on bold silhouettes, strong lines, and a mixture of traditionality with fun originality. As one's character is found, so is the individual's style. Don't be afraid to walk with confidence and know who you are. That is the best part of the human experience, our own unique sense of self. So be bold and don't let others shake your individuality.

Females in general I believe can easily feel quashed under social mores of their gender. That is why it is so important to dress confidently and keep your head held high - doubly so in the work place. As you grow into yourself, remember the basics of style: wear tailored pieces, keep in mind the proportionality of the clothing to your body, and recognize which areas you want to emphasize (waist, legs, collarbone, etc.). Once you conquer these basics, everything flows easily from there. Dressing like you mean it will not only imbed you with confidence, but others will begin to notice as well. There's nothing more attractive than a girl full of life.

In the below collage, I loved that the girl's outfit focused on solid basics. Not only does she look great (notice how the tucking in of the sweater emphasizes her waist), but she looks confident. The look is simple and tailored, but the oxblood color of the blazer gives it a fall color kick and the gold jewelry gives it a fun shine. I imagine that she would be wearing a fun pair of heels and on those days that you need an extra surge of confidence, go no further than your shoe closet. Those babies will make you look taller, stand straighter, and therefore have a more bold appearance. I switched up the sweater to a polka-dotted pattern and shorts to black leather not only for a bit of added fun, but a simple way to increase the creativity of the outfit!
