This week is hopefully that last real week of summer weather with temperatures in the 90s. It's incredibly difficult to attempt making a fashion statement when your wardrobe is restricted to only pieces that are light and don't absorb sweat! I'm incredibly excited for fall to come and kicked off the week with a Pumpkin Spice Latte and a fun brunch with friends.
When thinking fall, I naturally turned to my animal print brown dress from H&M that I picked up so long ago. It's length is perfect for work and sleeveless style ready for those warmer days. But the fun print really kicks it up a notch! I paired the dress with my nautical blue and white striped cardigan and coordinated it with a blue statement necklace. For a bit of fun, I added my new and favorite heels by Chelsea Crew that my mom picked up. I just adore the trendy graphic heel with the slim ankle strap! Plus the mix of colors are so classically feminine that it is a fantastic combination.

Earlier last week I attempted a recipe DIY that is sure to be a new staple for your bar cart! I made my very own lavender simple syrup! Honestly, it turned out amazing. It's delicious in a simple gin & tonic, but I actually also love using it to sweeten up my chai tea! How fun is a Lavender Chai Tea?! It's just such a unique floral flavor that it really elevates any drink you mix it in. You'll definitely have to try it! Next on my list to make: lavender macarons.
Lavender Simple Syrup
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
4 tablespoons lavender buds (I used fresh, but you can also use dried)
1 cup water

Bring sugar, water and lavender to a boil in a small saucepan. Simmer just a few minutes, until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let steep 30 minutes. Strain lavender buds out and transfer syrup to a glass bottle with a lid. Refrigerate for up to a month.
*Some simple syrup recipes call for a 1:1 ratio of sugar and water. I’d recommend 2:1 to make a thicker, sweeter syrup. Also, the lavender flavor is very mild—you can always add more if you want stronger floral notes.
