Four Easy Autumn Outfits

The end of this week gave us our first dose of crisp autumn weather here in Kansas City. The cool morning temperatures called for warm scarves, leather jackets, and hot drinks (aka my favorite spiced lavender chai tea - the recipe for lavender simple syrup is here). I had to take my scarves and gloves out of their storage box and find my Columbia fleece jacket on Friday before I froze! With this new change to the weather, I wanted to pull together for you my favorite fall outfits for you to easily throw on without too much effort!

This autumn, distressed jeans are in. Although I don't feel comfortable wearing them to work, they are perfect for a trip to the farmers market or dressed up for a night out with friends!

A new hot way to wear your scarves this fall is by belting them! Wear them with a loose shirt or oversized sweater and then belt your scarf with a skinny belt. Don't try wrapping it around your neck, unless it is very long.

Pick yourself up a quilted vest to wear this fall in either cherry red, hunter green, or a neutral. It goes great with jeans and also skirts! Try pairing that quilted vest in your closet with a gingham shirt for a fun outfit that is ripe for exploring apple orchards.

Finally, one of my favorite pieces for autumn is the wide-brim hat made in either felt or wool. It not only acts as a functional accessory keeping your head warm, but it also steps up your outfit to a whole new level of chic! I love matching it with delicate jewelry so the outfit doesn't become overwhelmed with crazy accessories.

I hope you have a great end to your weekend! If you need a fun pick-me-up before heading back to the daily grind on Monday, check out this fun Buzzfeed article on if Andy Dwyer quotes were motivational posters (for all you Parks and Rec fans like me)!

  1. It was downright cold on Saturday morning! Luckily it looks like we are going to warm up a little bit. I'm ready for fall, but not winter ;) A vest is on my list of things I want to add to my wardrobe!
