One of my newest favorite places to visit in this beautiful weather is Loose Park. It's a beautiful location that is the third largest park in Kansas City that has Civil War historical significance. (Check out the historical marker on the south side!) It has massive meadows, beautiful ponds filled with turtles and ducks, water fountains, tall and old trees, and a gorgeous rose garden. It simply is the best place to go for a picnic or cookout with your beau or friends this summer.
I was reminded of this perfect date night idea because this Wednesday is International Picnic Day! Although the history is ambiguous, it's known that picnics were a favored sunny weather activity tracing back to the French Revolution. Sometimes they get a bad rep because of the idea of soggy sandwiches and uncomfortable ground, but here are some tips to help you get through this fun date night plan!
Do bring wine or champagne (if allowed by the park).
Do find a shot that offers shade and is on high ground.
Don't forget to bring a blanket, but make sure it is one that will forgive stains in case you spill!
Do remember to bring glasses, plates, flatware, napkins, and a bottle opener!
Do wear comfortable shoes. If they are heels, make sure they are wedges so you don't sink into the ground!
Don't leave your trash - it's not nice nor classy!
Remember that your shoes can be used as cup holders when on an unsteady surface!
Date night is best when you are wearing a cute, but comfortable outfit! Stick with a pleated midi-skirt so that you don't show your underwear, but still look feminine. Also, try pairing it with a fun crop top or tied shirt to match the casual theme. Finally, grab a fun tote to take along your necessities! Here's a bit of inspiration before you head out to the park!
