This week was the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Girl Scouts of America by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, GA on March 12, 1912 - an organization that is near and dear to many young girls and women throughout the nation. It's one that I participated in as a child and I remember those numerous camp outs and fire pits with my elementary school friends. The organization does a wonderful job of promoting female leadership, camaraderie, and confidence at a young age - a cause that is so important for girls. As I was recalling girl scouts and its lengthy and rich history, I looked over some of the photos and was inspired. Not just by the mission of GSA, but also by the fashionable females who headed up the institution. One piece that particularly stood out to me were the fun hats that were common in the early photos.
Hats are definitely making a comeback and there's a new fashion trend that you can't pass up: wide-brim hats. Specifically, felt fedoras. Now these are your typical summertime fedoras, because the brim width makes the style a bit more retro and daring. Also, the felt fabric helps lend weight to the hat so it is perfect for spring, fall, and winter! Not convinced? Here's some inspiration from Pinterest for this hat trend:
Now that you know, here's where to buy! (I just picked my grey felt hat from Target's men section!)
