Supernova Girl

September 23, 1846 was just one of your average early fall days in Berlin until Johann Gottfried Galle stumbled upon our eighth planet while observing the night time sky with his assistant Heinrich Louis d'Arrest. Neptune's existence and location had been postulated by Urbain-Jean-Joseph Le Verrier, a French astronomer by analyzing the gravity disturbances found within Uranus' orbit. Earlier that day, Verrier had spoken to Galle of his calculations and his friend went on to find the missing planet that night. The newly discovered planet was named after the Roman god of the sea, which fits in well with its blueish hue. The gas giant is approximately 4 times the size of Earth and is encircled by 8 moons (including Triton) and several rings. It wasn't until 1989 that the first terrestrial guest visited the planet, the Voyager 2 from the United States.
A new fashion trend that emerged this year was the galaxy print. It's vivid colors and almost psychedelic patterns caught on quickly, especially with help from the neon style craze. Although it's slightly over-the-top look can be difficult to pull off, if you are going to go for it, I'd recommend pairing it with other neutral pieces. It is a gregarious print that should be left on its own to shine, or else the wearer risks looking like a crazy person.

If you are too shy to take on this bold look, try galaxy nails instead. This fun look is simple to do and way fun. Start out with a black or dark blue/purple base. Once that is dry, with a makeup sponge add on bright blue, purple, pink, and light blue polishes. Sprinkle some white and yellow dots throughout the pattern and maybe even create a star flare or two. Finally, top with a little glitter polish and a good top coat. Inspiration below:
