Britain, my second home, is a lovely country that is now in the midst of celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Queen Elizabeth II has been on the throne for 60 years this year after coming to the throne at the young age of 25 in 1952. Her father, King GeorgeVI (featured prominently in the King's Speech), died in February of that year from lung cancer, leaving his wife, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, to help guide their eldest daughter in her new role as Queen of Britain and the Commonwealth. During her coronation in 1952 you can see the the excitement on Elizabeth's youthful face and the people's enthusiasm for their new monarch. In 2012, the British people's admiration for their Queen hasn't changed, but has grown over the years of watching her participation in numerous philanthropic endeavors and her resolute role of giving a face to the British Government.
