The KCFW show was held at Harrah's grand ballroom and began at 2pm. There were several boutiques featured as well as 5 lines created by students around the Kansas City area. Below are a few images from the show. As I sat in one of the chairs that lined the runway, I began to pick up on several trends that pervaded the entire show. I saw a lot of colorblocking, bright pieces, sheer crop tops, bright coral/red lipstick, braided hair, and beaded/sequin details. One trend I especially loved was peplum skirts (the ones with the pouffy fabric at the waist - see below picture of Michelle Williams at the Oscars). That style is definitely hot this year. One final exciting part about the show was that one of my sorority sisters was a model in the show! I was so excited to see her and a few of my fellow ZTA sisters at the event.
I wore to the show my new ruby red asymmetrical skirt from Forever21, j.crew chambray shirt, leopard print belt, and bronze cut out high heels by Sofft. I love those events when I can go all out with my outfits!
After the show, I came home, threw on my comfy lounge pants, and watched my favorite stars traverse the red carpet at the Oscars. Billy Crystal was fairly humorous as the host, but honestly from all of the JCP Ellen DeGeneres commercials, I felt like she should have done it instead. The Artist swept the awards, go figure, and Harry Potter was glaringly overlooked. However, Octavia Spencer and Meryl Streep received well deserved standing ovations for their work in The Help and The Iron Lady, respectively. Honestly, I teared up at both of those moments. Clearly I need to see The Iron Lady and The Artist ASAP.
Below are a few of my favorite outfits from the night:

Rose Byrne |
Octavia Spencer |
I think Michelle Williams looks great in just about anything she puts on.
