The Treats of Paris

Yesterday was the anniversary of the legendary signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1783. The signatures of representatives from Great Britain, France, Spain, and the United States effectively brought an end to the American Revolutionary War. With this document, Britain was forced to recognize the independence of the 13 colonies and the boundaries of the United States were established. The French were quite instrumental in the war; under Louis XVI, they helped provide guns and ammunition to the American militias against their old enemy, the British. However, the expense of this aid helped push the French economy to the tipping point, causing the bourgeoise and French peasants to begin to revolt against the monarchy. In the end it led to the bloody French Revolution and later Reign of Terror under Robespierre.

Today, France is under an established republic and they are renown worldwide for their trend-setting fashion sense. This fall a few of the key pieces and styles the French are sporting on the street are trench coats, oversized knits, menswear, and ankle booties. While researching this post I ran across photo after photo of girls wearing high-heeled ankle boots with skirts, pants, leggings, and jeans. They have really made this a staple for the fall season! I hope this gives you some inspiration for your style as the temperatures begin plummet!
