Did you know that if people shifted just 10% of their annual spending an average of $235 million dollars would be brought in to the local economy each year? Just imagine how that could help the Kansas City economy with the amount of investments we could make for improving roads, schools, and local parks! I'm a huge advocate of shopping local. I love supporting small businesses here in my community. It just feels so much more intimate at a smaller store where you can get to know the shop owners. Plus, it makes spending money seem more worthwhile as I know it is going to people I can see face to face.
This past month I've found a shop that sells fantastic local goods and I just had to share it with you! Located down in the East Bottoms next to The Local Pig, Urban Provisions is giving the concept of general store an update. Their shop is set up with beautifully coordinated colors that draw your eye to the unique pieces they sell. I love all of their fragrant candles and know my home would instantly brighten with the ombre matchsticks. Urban Provisions also sells fun local t-shirts, handmade midcentury modern tables, and homemade canned goodies for your kitchen. Personally, I'm dying to pick up some of the geode coasters. I just think the bright colors would offset so well with all of the wood in my place! It's definitely a place you should check out for chic and unique pieces for your home as well as great gifts for friends and family! You can see more about the store through their Facebook page!
I also was incredibly impressed with West Elm's local KC goods section in their store on the Country Club Plaza. I loved the Kansas City gold tote and pastel city landmark print! So excited to see a larger chain store celebrating the amazing artists we have here in KC!
We LOVE LOVE LOVE Urban Provisions! We're always sending people over there! :) Excellent little write up.
