Audrey Hepburn is one of those timeless characters who has been lucky enough to make a lasting impact on society. Remembered many years later, today would have been the style icon's 85th birthday. Not only was Audrey a fantastic artist in front of the camera, she's also noted for her generous charity work with UNICEF. For me, I remember watching her in the classics Roman Holiday, Sabrina, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and My Fair Lady throughout my childhood and wishing to emulate her style. It was her elegance coupled with this delightful spirit that she conveyed that drew people in. Audrey just seemed to appreciate life in all its forms and react to all situations with grace and beauty. She was a timeless figure who inspired me as a young girl to try and be true to myself and seek the good rather than the bad.
When it comes to emulating Audrey's style, nothing could be more simple nor more challenging. Her fashion embraced the quirky and fun, like pairing big sunglasses with a ball gown. Yet, when I think back to her iconic attire, I think classics. When trying to achieve the Audrey "look," stick with those favorite classics: a crisp white button-down shirt, a bright cardigan, tailored trousers, and pointy-toe flats. As for beauty, don't underestimate the power of mascara and bold red lipstick. It also must be remembered, that Audrey was incredibly neat and tidy. So eyebrows must be well groomed, hair must be nicely styled, clothes must be nicely ironed, and your back must be nice and straight. Beyond this, Audrey symbolizes enjoying the small moments - never rushing, but rather basking in the beauty of the precious life we have.
