New Year's Eve has become a holiday tradition for many of us to ring in the start of the new year and the end of the old. It brings hopeful tidings for better days to come and provides a great opportunity to celebrate with friends and family! This ritual of honoring the new year's beginning is not a modern one, but rather dates back thousands of years with the earliest record belonging to ancient Babylon, 4,000 years ago. Julius Caesar, the Roman emperor, issued a series of reforms in 46CE implementing the Julian calendar and setting the first date of the calendar as January 1. This date didn't last though in Medieval Europe and was periodically replaced by dates with more Christian significance. However, in 1582 Pope Gregory XIII established the Gregorian calendar and remade January 1 as the first date of the calendar. Amazing how such a date has such rich history! So as you celebrate on Tuesday night, remember that you are in good company historically with such figures as Julius Caesar and Hammurabi of Babylon!
As we go into the new year, I've begun to think back on the popular trends of this year and my hopes for what is to come. I'm really hoping that bodycon dresses go by the wayside in favor for skater dresses. Also, mustaches are becoming a bit overplayed as a graphic, so here's hoping that those are dropped in 2014. Colored pants, corduroys, peplum, and plaid are still going to stay strong throughout the new year so keep them around!
In the last minute preparations for your NYE celebrations, make sure your outfit is sure to stand out! Try out an embellished top or dress that will shine throughout the night. I particularly like it with peplum and gives you a built in statement necklace! It's super chic and practical for your evening party!
